At First Christian Church Jeffersonville, we believe children are not simply the future of the church, they are an important part of the church today.
Sunday Mornings
Every Sunday, children begin worship alongside their families before gathering with one of our pastors for the Children’s Gathering. After a blessing from the congregation, they head to age-appropriate classes designed to help them grow in faith through story, wonder, creativity, and community.
Worship Boxes
Children are always welcome in worship. For families who choose to remain together throughout the service, worship boxes are available at the back of the sanctuary. Each clipboard-style box includes coloring pages, crayons, an LCD writing board, and a few quiet fidget toys designed to help children engage in worship while remaining with their families.
Nursery
Infants – 3
Our nursery is available each Sunday from 9:30 a.m. through the end of worship for infants through 3-year-olds. Our caring nursery staff provides a safe, welcoming environment where even our youngest children are loved and cared for while parents worship or attend Sunday morning classes.
Spark
Older 3s – Pre-K
Spark introduces our preschoolers to God’s love through Bible stories, music, creative play, crafts, and hands-on activities designed especially for young learners. Children are encouraged to explore their faith in ways that match their curiosity and imagination.
Worship & Wonder
Kindergarten – 2nd Grade
Worship & Wonder is a Montessori-inspired approach to children’s spirituality. Rather than simply teaching Bible stories, children are invited to enter them with wonder—listening, reflecting, and discovering how God’s story connects with their own lives. It is a peaceful, thoughtful space that nurtures curiosity and a lifelong love of scripture.
Connect
3rd – 5th Grade
Connect helps older elementary students explore the Bible through discussion, videos, creative activities, and real-life application. As children begin asking bigger questions about faith, Connect encourages them to think deeply, participate fully, and discover what it means to follow Jesus in everyday life.
On the last Sunday of each month, Connect students remain in worship with their families, helping them become more familiar with the rhythms and practices of corporate worship.
Family Events
Faith grows beyond Sunday mornings.
Throughout the year we offer family events that create opportunities for fun, friendship, and shared experiences, including our Breakfast with Santa, Easter Egg Hunt, Family Pool Party, and other seasonal gatherings. These events help children and families build relationships with the broader church.
Summer Opportunities
For elementary-aged children
Vacation Bible School
Vacation Bible School is one of the highlights of our summer! Elementary-aged children are invited to join us for an evening filled with Bible stories, music, crafts, games, recreation, and creative activities. It’s a week of laughter, friendships, and discovering God’s love in ways children will remember long after the summer ends.
Summer Camp
Each summer, FCCJeff sends groups of children to Indiana Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) camps, where they build friendships, explore their faith, enjoy the outdoors, and create lasting memories in a supportive Christian community.
There are camp opportunities for a variety of ages, including parent-and-child camps, overnight camps for younger elementary students, and overnight camps for older elementary students. Camp schedules and registration information are shared each spring.
